"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film has been captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything." ~Aaron Siskind
Today marks the beginning of a New Year....a time when we traditionally take one last look back at the year we're leaving behind in order to give thanks for what happened in those 12 months and maybe even to set goals for the next 365 days. So, I thought...why not do that with my photo shoots for 2015? Each moment we are alive is important and one to be captured if possible. Our memories may fade, but images frozen in time last forever. I've certainly been very fortunate to have so many kind folks put their trust in my work. Let me show you some of the images I was able to capture this past year through my lens.
Children.... Children are tricky little things. Some love the camera. Others...not so much. But sometimes, if I'm lucky, I get THE shot that absolutely melts my heart. :)
Teens.... There's no question that THIS is my favorite genre in the world of portrait photography. Oh, how I LOVE working with teens...especially those that are willing to step out of their comfort zone for the shot. Yep, young, hip, cool kids. They're my fav. No doubt!
Families.... Families can be a challenge sometimes, but I've learned that when I just let them do their thing, beautiful moments just seem to blossom.
Firsts.... I even did a few shoots in 2015 that were "first ever" attempts. Take a look...

Melissa Mercer was my first ever maternity session! She didn't want anything "fancy"...just a way to (one day) show her 4th son she was just as excited for his birth as she was with her other three boys. She even brought sweet Matt along for a few shots.

I'm taking a few months off now to regroup. I'm still going to be taking pictures....just not for hire. It's time to recharge the ol' DTR batteries....learn some new techniques....practice what I learn....and basically just become a better version of the photographer that took all those shots in the galleries you just saw above. I like her (and her art), but I know she can be even better. That's what I'm aimin' for, anyway. Time will tell.
If you're still here (I know, I know, my posts get long to read sometimes), I thank you, and I want to wish you and yours a very Happy 2016...full of peace...and joy....and new discoveries...and endless possibilities! Much love!
